Dez Bryant is ready for some Week 1 football.
With five months still to go before the NFL season kicks off, the Cowboys’ star wide receiver is already talking smack on the Giants and cornerback Janoris Jenkins.
“They play cover 5 damn near the whole time,” he tweeted late Thursday as a response to Jenkins telling a Dallas radio stationin February he simply “played better” than Bryant.
“Put his ass 1 on 1 the whole game. I will embarrass him,” Bryant continued. “(Steve) Spagnuolo know.”
Jenkins added on the radio spot that Bryant is easy to outrun.
“Everything’s got to be a double move to get him open because he’s not fast,” Jenkins said.
Bryant can use all the hypotheticals he’d like, but Jenkins did indeed shut down the wide out last season.
In both Giants’ wins over the Cowboys (the only losses Dallas suffered in the regular season), Bryant was held to one catch for 8 yards (Week 1) and one catch for 10 yards (Week 14).
They were the worst two games of Bryant’s season.
Bryant later realized the comments Jenkins made were a couple months old, tweeting early Friday morning: “I jumped the gun on my last tweet.. I thought it was recent & thought he kept going on about it ..I’m still looking forward to our battle”
