The woman behind the split between Carmelo Anthony and his wife is a Chicago-based special projects director with a penchant for celebrities who is pregnant with the NBA baller’s baby, according to a man who claims he is her former friend.
Mia Angel Burks, a Northwestern University graduate with a master’s degree in health communications, is at least four months pregnant from a relationship that began with the Knicks’ star last summer, the ex-pal said Thursday.
Anthony Jacobs, a Chicago socialite and personal assistant, told Chicago radio station WGCI-FM that Melo and Burks hit it off at a Windy City nightclub.
“Mia met Carmelo at Room Seven, a club in Chicago, when he was here for the NBA draft doing press,” Jacobs told “Chicago Morning Takeover.”
“She’s not a stripper. She works in education setting up programs.”
Jacobs said Burks, 25, was so smitten with the scorer that she even bought her own plane tickets for trips to New York to see her favorite Knick.
“She doesn’t know how to get money from guys,” he said.
Jacobs said he roomed with Burks for a while, but he fell out with her over a rent dispute. He said he learned about Burks’ pregnancy through mutual friends.
“She was more giddy about it than anything,” Jacobs said. “When those type of girls talk to those kind of guys, I don’t think that’s the premise in the back of their head, ‘I’m gonna go destroy this happy home.’ It’s fun. It’s perks.”
Burks could not be reached for comment.
She previously was linked to “Black Ink Chicago” star Ryan Henry and rapper Lil Dirk.
According to a report, a divorce between Carmelo, 32, and his wife La La, 37, could trigger a fight over the couple’s $200 million fortune.
The Anthonys, married for seven years, have a prenuptial agreement in place from before they tied the knot in 2010 — and Melo is the one who would benefit the most, TMZ reported Thursday.
Anthony is in the middle of his $124 million contract with the Knicks and has also made money through various endorsement deals. He is reportedly worth more than $200 million. Just last year, he landed at No. 25 on Forbes’ list of richest athletes.
Anthony has made money off the hardwood thanks to endorsements and collaborations with a number of brands, such as Nike, FootLocker, Steiner Sports and Nickelodeon.
La La has made notably less than her hubby — earning $9 million, according to E!
